Lighter. Faster. Stronger. Better.

Have you ever gone shopping for something and become so dissatisfied with your options that you decided to create something new? That is where I found myself three years ago.

After months of poor sleep, my doctor had me take a sleep test. It revealed that I stopped breathing about 57 times an hour every night. This put me at high risk of heart attack and stroke. It also meant I wasn't getting proper rest and recovery while I slept. I would wake up lacking energy and feeling exhausted.

I noticed when I slept with my head elevated on pillows that I slept better. And breathed better. My obstructed breathing seemed to almost disappear. So I went shopping for an adjustable bed to elevate my head at night. I looked at every brand I could find. I found that they were all essentially the same. The king-sized adjustable beds were very heavy (weighing nearly 300 pounds), very slow to adjust (moving just 5 mm per second), and they could barely support the weight of a plush mattress and two full-sized adults (each base able to support just 750 pounds). It seemed two of these three characteristics (heavy construction and weak motors) explained why so many customers complain of early motor failures in the adjustable beds they have purchased.

I decided then and there to make something better. I would build the adjustable bed I wanted and hope it would meet the needs of other people like me. To make it lighter, I chose aluminum instead of steel. This reduced the weight by more than half. To make it stronger, I engineered it to support 1,000 pounds. And I chose larger, stronger motors so it would adjust 2x faster - moving at 11 mm per second. The stronger motors would also dramatically improve reliability. I also made sure to include all of the creature comforts common in heavier, slower and weaker adjustable bases - including massage.

All of these improvements resulted in a product that costs more to manufacture. I didn't mind that, as long as I could still make it affordable. I found that by keeping my overhead low, I could still price it very competitively. I hope you love your Bloome Adjustable Bed as much as I enjoyed creating it. Breathe easy. Rest well.
